Rifle Interstate Transfer

I know you can buy a rifle in another state from a licensed FFL dealer or FFL holder and bring it back to Tennessee as long as the rifle is legal in both the state you bought it and the state (in this case Tennessee) you are taking it to.

I also know a firearm, pistol or rifle, can be brought into Tennessee from another state if it is willed to you, without FFL intervention.

But what about a rifle, given as a gift, from another state to be brought back to Tennessee by the person receiving the gift.

I am quite sure that it has to go through an FFL also but the question is can that FFL be from the state the rifle is coming from?

For instance, can the person who is receiving the gift go to the other state and then go to an FFL dealer with the people who are giving him the gift and make the person to person transfer and then take it back to Tennessee?

Do you have a C&R, and is it C&R eligible?

No C&R just a basic rifle gift with the rifle being legal in both states.

Thanks for the reply Mr. Harris. I found there are a lot of people that should know this information like the back of their hand but actually have it totally confused.

It is tough weeding through the printed BATF documents and I had a hard time getting an answer to this specific question.
