What type and brand of holster would anyone recommend for concealing an "S&W K-frame" type .357 mag with a 4 inch barrel.

David's comments speak from years of experience. I tried several over the years and have consistently returned to Kramer's horsehide products.

you can go to copquest.com and get a good deal on a gun belt acker makes several good inexpensive gun belts, i wear one myself ,it is very rugged and durable and holds up well

Since I've never tried an IWB holster, how comfortable would to be in a seated position while wearing a gun the size of a 1911 with 5 inch barrel?

A number of variables factor into comfortable carry, no matter the style: Size & weight of the gun, belt, design of holster,
on what you are seated, your build, etc.

I've successfully, and comfortably, carried a full-size 1911 .45 and a Browning HiPower in an Alessi IWB (though not at the
same time!), a full-size Beretta 92FS (thicker than the 1911) in a Ted Blocker IWB, and several other guns in a generic-fit
Jak-Slide by Jackass Leather (predecessors to Galco). All were on various gunbelts by Alessi, Blocker, or Kramer (remember,
the belt is an important part of the equation).

You have to be careful where you position the gun on your hip. Too far to the rear, & it will prod you mercilessly in the kidney.
Vehicle seatbelts, specifically those on the driver's side, can cause problems, especially buckets with a deeply curved seatback.
Chairs with arms also occasionally present problems, again depending on the design of the chair.

Bear in mind this can be a problem with OWB carry, too.

Do any of you have any experience with Crossbreed holsters, specifically the Supertuck?

Having spent several years in Texas, there are a lot of folks that swear by Tucker Gunleather. Rob Longenecker does some really good work. I prefer the Silent Thunder line, leather lined Kydex offers some real advantages to a fat boy who carries.

In TX, it is considered Pukka to have an everyday working rig, and, a dressed up "Bar-b-Que" or Sunday go to meeting rig. Rob makes some really fine looking holsters, great thing is, they all function extremely well!

I have found SmartCarry holsters effective for concealing full-size pistols.

I am 150 lbs, 5' 11", slender. I know this is probably a hard question, but could I effectively conceal a full size 1911 with an IWB holster wearing a good size t-shirt.
