For anyone wishing to get into some fun, informal but SAFE shooting matches, please check out the following sites. I have shot at both places & both matches are run by SUPER nice folks whom bend over backwards to ensure everyone has a good time & stays safe.
The Manchester folks have 3 Gun matches 3-4 times a year. LOTS of fun doing this!
Anyone is welcome to simply come out & just watch as well. Bring your own chair though!

Folks you might want to try Henry County Gun Club in Puryear, TN. They have IDPA shoot the second Saturday of each month and a 3 Gun match the fourth Saturday of each month. They have a beautiful range and a great bunch of people.

These are good sources.
When I met to interview one of several web programmers recently, one thing we discussed was how to address the issue of creating resources on the TFA site of things like gun ranges, gun clubs, etc. One idea that came out of the meeting was actually to have a section on the forum for ranges and/clubs and let individuals who actually shoot there post a thread about them with the first post tending to be the details of where, when and what it offers and then let others post with comments about their experiences at that range and setting up local meetings.
I would like some feedback on trying that here.

Perhaps have a link to a page, simply titled gun ranges.
At the top, have ranges that have some TFA link, and on the bottom, simply ranges members know about and are sharing. This would give gun clubs and ranges that do something for the TFA (even if only share knowledge of our existence) to their members something in return for being our allies. It would not be much, but it might make them feel special. Sometimes feeling special can get a hand here and there. At the same time, we won't exclude other ranges, and it will be a good resource.

We have an existing forum category on this site called "Places to Shoot" which is what I had intended would evolve into a resource. It really has not taken off.
My thought it, rather than start it off as part of the redesigned web site is let's build some knowledge in that forum topic and move forward from there to add the clubs to the main page but with links back to the forum so that people can ask questions and discuss the ranges.

A bump for those whom may not know that 1st time shooters get to shoot for free at the Dickson matches!
