Question about carry laws and schools...

I am a little confused and am hoping that yall can staighten me out.

As a carry permit holder, what can I do and can not do on school property.
I know you can't walk across school property while carrying. Can you have your carry gun in your car when driving through the pick up lines to drop off and get your kids?

Do the laws pertaining to schools apply both to public and private schools?
Since private schools are a for profit business, do they fall under school laws or business laws?

Any help would be apprciated.
