Nashville Chapter is scheduled to meet on Tuesday, September 20, 2011

Meeting time is 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm

Guest speaker is Nashville attorney, commentator and celebrity Adam Dread. Mr. Dread will be speaking with the group from his perspective as counsel for Randy Rayburn in the lawsuit that declared the 2009 restaurant law unconstitutional. Perhaps not so much a focus on the legal nuances but perhaps to explore why business owners have opposition to civilians carrying firearms.

Arrive early - 5:00 to 5:30 would be good. Eat in the meeting room if possible and if not, get as close as you can. We will try finishing eating by 7:00 in the meeting room to clear out everything but drinks for the meeting if we have a large turnout.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO PAY AT GOLDEN CORRAL AS YOU COME IN FOR THE MEETING IF YOU ARE EATING. TELL THEM THAT AT THE CASH REGISTER THAT YOU ARE THERE FOR THE MEETING AND TO APPLY THE "GROUP RATE" WHICH INCLUDES YOUR DRINK.

You do not have to be a TFA member to attend nor do you have to be a resident of Nashville. Everyone is welcome and encourage to bring guests - even spouses.

I want to encourage each of you to bring someone with you to the meeting who has not been to one or been to one recently. There's no cost to come (unless you eat because the meal is on you).

Adam Dread's portion of Tuesday's meeting was, uh, spirited, to say the least. His presentation was full of inaccuracies and
gratuitous assertions, with occasional forays into downright BS, on which those in attendance were only to happy to challenge him.

However, we also had a surprise guest, thanks to our own Nikki Goeser. John R. Lott, Jr., author of three books: More Guns, Less Crime, Freedomnomics, and The Bias Against Guns spoke at a Students for Campus Carry event at Vanderbilt on Monday night, and his schedule permitted him to stay over and attend the TFA meeting as Nikki's guest. He engaged Dread––OK, attempted to engage, since Dread suddenly had places to go & people to see––on a number of points Dread had raised earlier. Dread contradicted himself, and argued both sides of the same point on multiple occasions, and soon made his goodbyes. He was last seen hurrying from the restaurant.

John Lott then proceeded to talk for the next hour & a half, answering many questions, and stayed for an additional half hour or so beyond that to meet & greet those who wished to talk to him.

All in all, one of the most enjoyable evenings I've experienced in a long while!
