The April meeting of the Tennessee Firearms Association Lakeway Chapter will be held on Tuesday evening, the 21st of April, 2009

Bill Britain, Hamblen County Trustee, will discuss how county government works.

Our meeting place is the Shoneys Family Restaurant at 1933 West Andrew Johnson Highway (Hwy 11E), Morristown TN. This restaurant is located 1/2 block east of the West Andrew Johnson highway (Hwy 11E) and Morris Blvd intersection, more or less across from the Home Depot. There is a large, highly visible sign in front along with plenty of parking space. A pre-meeting social hour is from 6 PM to 7 PM during which you may want to eat dinner. The meeting will begin promptly at 7 PM and end at 8 PM. Opportunity will be given to ask questions related to the topic.

The April speaker, Hamblen County Trustee Bill Britain, at the Lakeway chapter of the Tennessee Firearms Association (TFA) was informative and refreshingly candid in his responses to member questions. Bill is running for Hamblen County mayor next year and will be invited back next spring so we can query him on his position on 2nd Amendment issues.

TFA membership. While not a requirement to attend any of the chapters' meetings we strongly urge you to join.

Membership in national organizations such as the National Rifle Association (NRA), Gun Owners of America (GOA), Second Amendment Foundation (SAF), Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) numbers in the hundred of thousands if not millions. Many of them provide some degree of support for specific firearm issues at the state level but obviously none of them have the resources to stay abreast of every piece of state legislation that affects the citizens in a state. The Tennessee Firearms Association does what the national organizations can't.

The Tennessee Firearms Association (TFA) works with state legislators on firearm related issues, e.g., hunting, competition shooting, shooting ranges, self defense, et cetera. The TFA also monitors issues that involve outdoors activities such as fishing and access to public areas where we can enjoy our sports.

I urge you to join the TFA because as with all organizations more members means more clout when dealing with legislators and state regulators. You can join on line http://www.tfaonline.org/index.php/tfa/join or use the link there to get an application to mail in.
