Over all Doctor Roe presented a conservative platform.

- Drill here, drill now; as well as more nuclear power plants, more clean coal use, more biodiesel.

- Finish the fence on southern border and make English our official language.

- When asked about abolishing the Department of Education Dr. Roe responded that he would never vote for an unfunded federal mandate.

- Stated he does not have a Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit but felt he may need to carry if he moves to Washington D.C. Was informed that the TN HCP still wouldn't allow him to carry in D.C. which seemed to surprise him.

- Will support the right to carry in national parks.

- When asked about his opposition to right to carry where alcohol is served he stated that he is still opposed. My wife and I talked at length after the meeting with Dr. Roe on this and he stated that I'd changed his mind on the issue. If true I hope he will say that publicly.

- When asked about getting an endorsement from one of the largest anti-hunting organizations, U.S. Humane Society aka U$H$, he stated an ignorance of the anti-hunting position of that group. He also didn't seem to know that U$H$ had no affiliation with his county’s local humane society. Dr. Roe did not repudiate the U$H$ endorsement.

Perhaps with further contact with 1st District gun owners and education Dr. Roe will be as good a friend to gun owners as his predecessor.

Roe did ask me "What is the TFA?" Guess we still need to get the word out who we are and what we do.

Note: these are my personal observations and other attendees may have interpreted the answers differently.
