The Shelby County Chapter of the Tennessee Firearms Association will meet Thursday, 6/17/10 at 7:00 PM at Range USA:
http://www.rangeusa.com/
2770 Whitten Rd. in Memphis. (Please support Range USA every chance you can, they support TFA!)
We are honored to have as our guest, Judicial Candidate, Claiborne Ferguson. Claiborne, like all the candidates, has the experience to be judge but only Claiborne wants to combine his legal experience with medical professionals to create Memphis/Shelby County’s first Mental Health Court.
Claiborne wants a team approach to identifying and intervening in repeat offenders who suffer from mental illness, then, he says, crime will be lowered and quality of life improved for us as well as the offender. Claiborne believes that many of his client’s charged with serious crimes could have been successfully identified early on as mentally ill. He believes is the missing piece in the Shelby County justice system and we, the law-abiding folks, suffer because of it. He says he’s not about a slap-on-the-wrist, he’s about real punishment with real medical treatment.
Although we always welcome new members, TFA meetings are open to the public and you do not have to be a member to attend.
We'll promptly adjourn at 8:30. I look forward to seeing you there.
In Liberty,
Pat McGarrity
