We hope to be able to see what is proposed at this event. It's not likely that the real culprit that produces violent criminals; 50 years of failed socialist policies, funded by our extorted income, will be blamed... Speaking of illegal guns, a good start on enforcing gun laws would be to prosecute Bloomburg's militant, outlaw, anti-gun mayors group for making illegal straw purchases. The video evidence can be found here:

Subj: Letter to Mayor Wharton

Pat,
The news today stated that Mayor Wharton is holding a "Community Congress" on November 30th. at a church on James Road called Golden Gate Cathedral. It is being billed as a meeting to discuss how to reduce the gun violence in Raleigh and Frasier. I do not know if I will be able to go but could you spread the word. We need to know if this is just another act to fall in line with his affiliation with Mayor Bloombergs gun grabbers. I would be good to know if he will be promoting any of MAIGs agenda.

Here is a letter I have sent to him. As usual, feel free to copy this to our members.

Sam

Mayor Wharton,

I saw on a news report today that you plan to hold a “Community Congress” on November 30th at Golden Gate Cathedral to discuss how to reduce the increasing gun violence especially in light of the recent tragedies in the Raleigh and Frasier communities.

I commend any and all efforts that reduce the crime that is taking place on our streets. However these efforts cannot be at the cost of imposing increasing restrictions on law abiding citizens. This amounts to punishing the innocent while the guilty go free.

I heard you in an interview on FM 98.1 with Drake and Zeke respond to your involvement in gun control activities. You said that your efforts were directed at reducing illegal guns and you wondered why people would be opposed to reducing illegal guns. I don’t believe anybody would oppose illegal guns and taking actions to reduce the number of guns in the hands of criminals. However your actions and affiliations say otherwise.

You were sent two letters from a Bob James, (to which you did not respond) questioning your affiliation with a group headed by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Mayors against Illegal Guns, (MAIG). While their name sounds good, their actions also contradict their name.

Mayor Bloomberg stated in an interview on Meet the Press that he would raise money to counter the influence of the NRA. The NRA is not an illegal organization nor do they participate in, promote, or condone illegal gun activity. MAIG has supported law suits against the firearm industry, again not an illegal industry. Why not sue GM; Ford or Chrysler for DUI related automobile deaths?

MAIG has also funded and conducted undercover activities at gun shows actually video taping their own investigators making illegal straw purchases. Has anybody moved to prosecute those illegal activates. If those “investigations” were as legitimate as they say, those investigators should have contacted local law enforcement prior to conducting their investigations so that appropriate legal action could be taken against those involved. They did not. Nor did they contact any Federal law enforcement agency so as they too could be involved.

None of these MAIC activities actually address illegal guns yet you continue to maintain your affiliation with this rogue group.

Do you want to reduce illegal guns and criminals having guns? Then focus on harsh, swift punishment for those who commit those crimes. Persons committing crimes with firearms should be handed over to the Federal system where punishment is severe with no parole. Continued focus on activities that only affect the law abiding citizen, the legal industries and organizations will continue to have no effect on the criminal. This couldn’t be more proven than by the recent killing of a teen in a Frasier park. A place where The City of Memphis this past summer declared gun free when they opted out of the state law which would have allowed only permit holders to carry in the parks. Once again, and this time it was proven tragically, criminals do not care about bans. How many more will have to die at the hands of crooks, thugs, drug dealers, gang bangers and other criminals before those in leadership positions figure it out that gun control laws just do not work?

I will make an attempt to attend this Community Congress as I am a resident of Raleigh and I too am concerned about gun crime.

Thank you,

Samuel L. Cooper
