Well said John!

Dear Chairlady Sontany;

Very soon your committee will consider several bills that have a significant impact on Tennesseans' right to self-defense. Please support these bills.

Regarding HB0702, many restaurants now serve alcohol. I agree that it is a good idea to not mix alcohol with firearms; however if a person is not drinking, he should be allowed to carry his firearm. There have been several shootings in bars by people with guns who were drinking. This bill would give prosecutors additional measures to combat such activity.

HB3063 is also important to me because my employer, FedEx, prohibits me from having my firearm on their property. While they strive to create a safe work environment, they are not able to ensure my safety during my commute to and from work. At the very least, I should be allowed to keep my firearm in my car in their parking lot.

Finally, the recent incidents of shootings on college campuses have underscored the need for additional security at those facilities. Allowing faculty and staff to have their firearms at work would be equivalent to hiring additional security guards without additional cost. Please support HB3014 because it provides further safety for Tennessee's colleges and universities.

Your support of these reasonable measures to ensure our right to self-defense is greatly appreciated.

Kindest Regards,
John Tilmon
