Briley Replaced With Comrade Gun Grabber/Liar (Al Franken?)

After his DUI, the felonies of evading arrest and vandalism, as well as several other misdemeanors resulting from two separate incidents recently, Rep. Rob Briley (D-Nashville) has resigned as chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. House Speaker, Jimmy Naifeh (D-Covington), appointed another notorious gun grabber and liar, Rep. Kent Coleman (D-Murfreesboro) to chair that powerful committee.

In 2002, Coleman answered the NRA's legislative survey and specifically stated that he would support the bill to remove the prohibitions on restaurants that serve alcohol and the bill to relax Tennessee's reciprocity standards. Based upon those written representations and others to the NRA, the NRAILA lobbyist at the time, Darren LaSorte, determined that Coleman was entitled to an "A" rating from the NRA. Of course, Mr. LaSorte had to assume that Mr. Coleman was being honest and telling the truth in the survey responses. With the help of this rating, Coleman won the election against a Republican by a mere 40 votes.

Rep. Coleman was assigned to the House Judiciary Committee and made the Secretary of that committee he now chairs. He was also appointed to a new subcommittee - the oxymoronic Constitutional "Protections" subcommittee, or death row for pro gun bills. The bills would be "killed" there, before going to the House floor for a vote, so as to not have anti-gun votes on record to protect anti-gun politicians. Coleman voted against both our restaurant and reciprocity bills.

In a closing note, I believe that Coleman could be the long lost brother of leftist talk show host, Al Franken.
