Subj: Shelby TFA Meeting 5/21/15
Our May 21st meeting of the Shelby County Chapter of the Tennessee Firearms Association http://tennesseefirearms.com/ features Shelby County 4-H Shooting Sports high school athlete Catherine Miller and her dad, Coach Jim Miller. Catherine has competed extensively with her air rifle in 4-H, Civilian Marksmanship Program http://thecmp.org/ , and Olympic qualifying matches. She hope to compete with her rifles in the upcoming Olympics.
4-H Shooting Sports http://www.4-hshootingsports.org/ is a rapidly growing program administered here in Tennessee by the University of Tennessee Cooperative Extension Program https://extension.tennessee.edu/Pages/default.aspx Nationwide the programs include BB, air rifle, air pistol, small bore pistol, small bore rifle, muzzleloader, and archery.
Locally, Shelby County 4-H includes BB and air rifle. One of our local chapter members, David Mixon, coaches BB, and another member, Kenny Crenshaw is an assistant coach for BB and air rifle. The club practices at the Memphis Sports Shooting Association (MSSA) facility in Lakelend.
Catherine will be bringing her Anschutz competition air rifle and competition gear.
Also joining us will be Mike Webb, Tennessee Senior Field Representative of the National Rifle Association. Mike will be telling us how the Friends of the NRA http://www.friendsofnra.org/ helps fund 4-H Shooting Sports through grants. The Shelby County club has been the recipient of funds and equipment from the NRA foundation. He will tell us how we can help fund these young athletes as they pursue their competitive dreams.
Please join us at RangeUSA http://www.rangeusa.com/ 7:00 PM. The grill will be open and many of us will be enjoying a fine meal before the meeting.
