I just received the email announcing an "Advocacy Package". In the sample there is a reference to the $10 fee on firearms purchases. I was under the impression that this fee was to pay for the "background check". I do not see the elimination of the background check anytime soon. If it is indeed a fee to purchase, I would like to know what part of Tennessee government receives this fee. If it supports whatever department conducts the background check, I see nothing wrong with us as purchasers of firearms paying the fee.

Clarification of this would be appreciated.
