Great job John. What you want to add to the law is exactly what we need--you can carry anywhere alcohol is served as long as you are not drinking, no exceptions. Now, we as gun carriers need to write/call/email EVERY SINGLE rep/senator who voted for the original bill and the overturn and let them know that THAT is EXACTLY what needs to be added. Alcohol is alcohol and people can be (and are) just as drunk at Applebee's as any "bar" in TN. If you can trust us in Applebee's, you can trust us at any other place that serves alcohol. It's that simple.

It would be good if people would get active now on this issue. If you don't want to write a lot, use what I wrote. Send them the link to this page if you want to.

Missing from website
Curt Cobb (resigned in July for another gov job and I don't know who replaced him)
Brian Kelsey (see below, switched to Senate)

Republicans missing in action.
rep.beth.harwell@capitol.tn.gov (voted against the bill the first time!!!)
rep.pat.marsh@capitol.tn.gov (doesn't have him ever voting for the bill either way)
rep.jon.lundberg@capitol.tn.gov (voted for the original bill, probably wasn't there for the override)

Senate
sen.tim.barnes@capitol.tn.gov
sen.mae.beavers@capitol.tn.gov
sen.diane.black@capitol.tn.gov
sen.tim.burchett@capitol.tn.gov
sen.rusty.crowe@capitol.tn.gov

sen.mark.norris@capitol.tn.gov
sen.doug.overbey@capitol.tn.gov
lt.gov.ron.ramsey@capitol.tn.gov
sen.jim.tracy@capitol.tn.gov
sen.bo.watson@capitol.tn.gov
sen.jamie.woodson@capitol.tn.gov
sen.ken.yager@capitol.tn.gov

It has Paul Stanley in the vote, but he's resigned and Brian Kelsey won his seat. Brian voted FOR the bill in the house. His email should be:
sen.brian.kelsey@capitol.tn.gov

Republicans missing in actiont: (However, it doesn't list that they voted against it, so they may have not been there for the vote as it doesn't say they voted "present")
sen.dewayne.bunch@capitol.tn.gov
sen.steve.southerland@capitol.tn.gov

So really we only have one republican (Rep. Beth Harwell) who has gone on record as being anti-gun carry. The others probably missed the vote as they voted for the bill the first time.

So there is the list of people you need to write.

Matthew

I asked about Southerland's lack of a recorded vote and was told that he had to be absent that day. I know from his voting history that Steve Southerland is very pro gun and has carried the issue for us in the past.

Pat Marsh was elected in October in a special election to fill Cobb's seat in the House.

I got this email from the NRA yesterday and thought I would pass it along.

Restaurant Carry Reform Measure Takes a Step Forward
Please Contact the Members of the House Judiciary Committee Today!

On Wednesday, March 10 the House Judiciary Criminal Practice Sub-Committee passed House Bill 3125 by a vote of 4-2. This legislation will now be heard by the House Judiciary Committee.

HB3125, with an NRA-backed amendment, would enable a person who has a valid Right-to-Carry permit to carry a firearm into restaurants where alcohol may be served, as long as the permit holder is not consuming alcohol or is not otherwise prohibited by posting provisions. HB3125, introduced by State Representative Curry Todd (R-95), was filed in response to Chancellor Claudia Bonnyman’s ruling last November. The current law was ruled as being unconstitutionally vague because of a perceived ambiguity over the state’s definition of restaurants. This bill, with the NRA-backed amendment, will fix any ambiguity.

NRA-ILA would like to thank the of the members of the House Judiciary Criminal Practice Sub-Committee for their hard work on HB3125.

Please contact members of the House Judiciary Committee TODAY and respectfully urge them to support HB3125. Contact information for the committee can be found below.

Honestly, with the way it has been rewritten I think that it will pass through this time. Although the hospitality people might sue again but then again I heard that Baker fella that was their president got canned last week for sending a bad (racist) email to people.

Nothing to sue over this time. If we win this, we win.
