Weapons on unarmed guard post

I'm not sure if this is the proper place to ask, but someone here may know. I know it is against state law to carry a gun on an unarmed guard post even if you have a permit. Is it also against the law to carry other weapons, like a combat knife? If it is, is it considered a felony? Misdemeanor?
To clarify, I'm wondering if it against the law for a licensed armed guard to carry a concealed combat knife on an unarmed post.
Thanks

You should not have any problems carrying a knife. There is no permit required. (Assuming your knife meets the length limit, not greater than 4".) (and I am a Licensed Armed Guard for the record.)

Knife would be legal as long as it is a legal length. However it would be Illegal to carry "spray", ASP, PR-24 etc... if you are not certified with it .

A post being an unarmed or armed post is a contractual matter between the client and the security company. If you are licensed as an armed guard you would not be breaking the law (unless the property is posted no guns) but you would be violating the policy of both the client and your employer and would most likely be fired. Likewise many companies also prohibit guards from carrying knifes, batons or chemical spray on their property. Doing so would not be a violation of the law but would be a policy violation and once again would probably get you fired.

Nobody's answer is wrong of course, but jpesz gave you the best answer regarding this specifically for armed guards. I would only add that I think its insane to work "unarmed" ANYWHERE.. As a guard you are an automatic target of violence. Just last week a guard was stabbed more than 12 times in a NYC night club, likely by a bunch of ACORN beneficiaries.. DON'T DO IT!
