mistakenly had firearm in check in luggage

I was wondering if there is someone I could talk to about a incident that happened at the airport in Oklahoma. My friend drove
her daughter's car to Oklahoma and didn't realize that her handgun was still in the suitcase she used. She had just returned from a camping trip and had packed the firearm under a collaspable hamper, and didn't remember to take it out before she started repacking for a trip 4 days later. She drove to Oklahoma and was planning to fly back to TN. when she went thru checkpoint, her handgun was found in the carry on luggage. The took the handgun, didn't press criminal charges, allowed her to fly home but said she would hear from TSA and would have to pay a fine. they also told her to contact OK PD in a few weeks, that they should send her gun back to her. Is there someone that we could talk to about this? she has not heard from
TSA yet. This happened on Oct 6. thank you, BB
