You may have noticed

Postby lilredhunter » Wed Sep 09, 2009 2:44 pm

Well some of you may have noticed while many others may not have paid much attention that I have been missing for several days. Well I am back now and trying to get caught up on the reading. Today is the 9th of Sept. A couple days before the first my wife went to wake me for breakfast. The problem was she could not get we to wake up. She contacted local EMS and I was transfered to Horizon Medical Center. When they get me there I was running an extremely high temp. To the point of being Febrile. Now up until the 4th of Sept I can't really can not tell you much. As I am still trying to peace my life to back together. So far I have Found that a few days on a ventilator leaves you asking lots of questions. As you can all see I managed to make it back. Still don't know anything definitive about what went wrong. My wife didn't call anyone because about all she managed to do was get the bills paid and take care of the kids. Just thought you might have been curious as to where I had been. Take it easy everyone. Will start posting when I get some strength back.

Guys thanks for the kind words and the prayers in my email. It seems like only by the prayers and the Grace of God that I made it through this. We are still getting back info from test. As of right now it appears this was a combination of things. It looks like right now it was partially caused by several tick bites that were missed. The tick bites caused a renal and Pulmonary shutdown. The renal shutdown has also been attributed to Diabetes. I feel real lucky as this had the makings of a worse situation. Thanks to some great doctors who wouldn't give up. BTW thanks Bill I think I will stick around fo a while.

I have a friend in New Jersey that had a very similar situation due to tick borne disease this summer. We all need to be very cautious this fall as we enter the fields for hunting season, seems that ticks are posing more problems all the time.

Chris, sorry to hear this... I've been away from the forum for a few days myself, so I wasn't aware that you were MIA.

Keep us in the loop, and let me know if I can do anything to help.

Mr. Archie you are very right. As many of you get geared up for the brisk mornings of doing a little hunting ,then take the quick shower before heading to work, keep in mind that just because you don't see the ticks as much as the seasons start changing they are still out there. It may be cooler as time for hunting gets closer but the ticks are just as deadly as they were during the summer.

Re: You may have noticed **UpDate**

Postby lilredhunter » Fri Sep 11, 2009 6:36 pm

Just a quick update guys on what they say I had wrong with me. They are calling it (SIRS) whish is a Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome. Mainly what info I have came from Wiki this afternoon. But it was my body trying to fight multiple infections at once and my whole body was fighting back and forth with itself trying to destroy everything. The sudden onset Kidney & Lung damage shouldn't be too bad. I should make a slow but good recovery.Beingon the ventolator takes a lot out of ya. But hey the weight loss has been a plus. You guys are not getting rid of me that easy I still have to buy my parts and build my AR.

Mike thanks for the kind words. I am going to try sticking around for a while and taking my recovery as best I can so I can start becoming active again. Sheesh I was just getting started good on letter writing and emailing people to "Light some mental fires" to help further our rights and strengthen our side of things. I am definitely not stopping on doing things just maybe slowing down a little on it.

Did they ever call it sepsis or septic shock?

James one of the doctors did call it septic shock once & another said something about septicemia. They have been throwing things @ me left & right and actually I never put the septic shock & SIRS together. Part of this was blamed on a couple missed ticks, however today they stated they were not so sure on the ticks. All I am sure of is I was super ill, it took a lot of talking to get them to let me come home 7 days after coming off the vent. I still feel like crap but getting better by the day.

Septicemia is used the same as sepsis, though it is not identical. Sepsis is an infection, septicemia means the infection is circulating in your blood. We know it is in your blood because we can get blood cultures from you and culture it. (Typically the cultures are done to prove both the diagnosis and what needs to be done to fight it.) Septicemia is technically worse than sepsis, though it is still often used interchangeably, but septic shock is worse than septicemia and sepsis.

Sepsis < Septicemia < Septic shock.

So, you had septic shock, and at one time your kidneys, and lungs had failed? Any other organs?

Not too bad. Taking it easy and trying to get my strength back. Have got to go next week and have a follow up ct. Dr. said today everything was looking good no protein output from kidneys and the damage to the kidneys is looking like it was either very minimal or has done a quick job of repairing itself. This past Saturday night had to go back to hospital and stayed until Monday. Same problems just not near as bad. I am hoping to not go back. The food stinks & taste worse than it smells. I have managed to lose 44 pounds through all this. That will be the one plus to it all. All in all I am doing pretty well. I appreciate you asking.

Having dealt with my wife's kidney disease over the last 10 years, I can empathise with your struggle.

Best wishes on your recovery, keep us posted!

Mr. Archie;
I understand what your loving wife is going through , I have a friend who now has ESRD (End Stage Renal Disease). So I understand what your wife goes through. I still have to go Thursday for a CT scan on my kidneys. Because the doctor said one kidney (right side) look swelled on the ultra sound. Also he thought he saw some damage on the right kidney as well. Plus my bladder is inflamed so he said. So other than that I am feeling a little better , but having a few other problems. At times when I get up after sitting for a little while and when I wake up from a nap or actual sleep, I am so dizzy that I can't walk and my speech is slurred badly. Other than that everything else is running smooth. Sorry for the delay in replying I have been taking it real easy for now.
