Am I allowed to carry in a Convenicence Store

I have searched every TN law, and asked every one possible. I can not seem to get an answer to this question, or I get two different answers. I have actually asked two police officers at the same time, and I got two completely different answers and reasons.

I "wear" my weapon concealed, on my side, under a jacket or suit coat. I am never without it, but am I allowed to enter a convenicence store or grocery store, for that matter. Say I stop to fill up my car or get a Coke or do some grocery shoppping. Since the locations SELLS beer, does not serve it for consumption. Am I allowed, as long as they do not have a sign posted - to wear my gun into the store?

Someone please clarify this question for me... I love that I can carry my gun, and do not want to do anything that would jeopardize me from my constitutional right...
Thanks,

Thank you so much... I thought that I had remembered that law as just that way.
I stopped at a local C-Store and had my gun on my side, of course I had on a jacket. There were two local officers in the store, of course in the small community that we live we all know each other.. If not by name at least face. I was asked by one of the officers, who knows both my husband and I carry, if I was armed. I answered, OF COURSE, I am always armed, you know that.
There was then a discussion between myself and the officers, on whether I could carry in the store. The owner of the store said that it does not bother him, probably becuase his store and been robbed so many times. But one officer said that I could not carry regardless if the owner approves or not, the other officer said that I could??
I am just curious, why local police and sheriff's and even Highway Patrol are not current on all the laws.

Thank you again, for the information. I love this site and forum... I look forward to reading and posting as often as possible. I will be speaking to my husband about joining the TFA -

You are welcome.

We try to be a little more helpful than some of the other firearms related forums where issues are more about specific firearms as opposed to your constitutional rights relative to firearms....

I know that there are inherent risks involved, but exactly what are the Tennessee laws regarding Open Carry into businesses or public areas that are neither prohibited nor posted?

Open carry is allowed in Tennessee. Tennessee is not a concealment state.
