Can they revoke your permit if...?

Postby KevinMcCauley » Thu Jun 04, 2009 9:09 am

Just to clarify...if someone carries into a restaurant that has a proper "no firearms" posting....can they lose their permit?

No, that is a class B misdemeanor. Permits can only be suspended for class A's.

TCA 39-17-1352(f) (1) If a permit holder is convicted of a Class A misdemeanor offense, the permit holder shall surrender the permit to the court having jurisdiction of the case for transmission to the department.
(2) The permit holder shall not be permitted to lawfully carry a handgun or exercise the privileges conferred by the permit for the term of the sentence imposed by the court for the offense or offenses for which the permit holder was convicted.

However, I will not give my money to any restaurant that decides to post against handguns, and I will write the local manager and corporate headquarters of the restaurant to advise and explain. When they start losing business, they may realize their error and remove their signs.
