I have heard about the TFA for a while now. I never really considered joining because I was one of those nieve people who thought that I would never need the info or have anything to say.
Well that all changed today. Now I own several firearms and am in the process of getting my permit. I am also in the market for a couple hunting rifles. I knew The State of Tn ocassionaly has sold seized firearms, both long guns & handguns at auction on the Asset-Auctions website. In the past auctions I had contacted Property Utilization and asked if I could bid as long as I had an FFL willing to do the transfer. I had been told that would be fine. Well I had been looking for a couple of hunting rifles for a while now like I said. I noticed that there was an auction coming up and decided to bid on a few of the ones they had listed. These weapons being auctioned are seized weapons from TWRA. Today I attempted to bid and found that I can't because now they require the bidder info, transfer info and FFL info all has to match. One would think if you are able to purchase a firearm from one of the many places on the net that sells and if you had a dealer that was FFL by email or fax and have them bid for me. I spoke to a couple dealer friends of mine and was told the exact same thing by both. That being "If I have to register to bid for you I would just buy them myself and resell them to you." The dealer would have no idea if you were going to pay after he bid for you and if you didn't pay he would have to. Thus sticking the dealer with a gun he doesn't want. I could not believe this. I see the dealer standpoint on not knowing he would get paid unless you went to him and gave him the cash upfront. Which I can do and would do. But it isn't fair to anyone who is willing to follow BATFE guidelines on a purchase and transfer. I know this is my first post and it is long winded . For this I apologize. But it just steamed my vegetables.
