Bill Gibbons, candidate for governor, opposes permit holders

Postby johnharris » Wed Apr 01, 2009 9:49 pm

Bill Gibbons, a district attorney from Shelby County, and a candidate for Tennessee's governor's race in 2010, has been a member of the Tennessee Public Safety Coalition, opposes allowing Tennessee's handgun permit holders being allowed to carry in restaurants that serve alcoholic beverages according to a video clip hosted by the Chattanooga Times Free Press:

He was even one of those signing a letter in 2008 urging then House Speaker, Jimmy Naifeh, to stop the legislation. http://www.police.nashville.gov/news/me ... /HB410.pdf

As we move forward with Tennessee's governor's race, members of the public safety coalition are a potential risk to the rights of Tennessee's gun owners.

Why, some might ask, would I opine that members of the public safety coalition pose a risk to gun owners? Its because of the admonition from Ben Franklin - "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." Its seems too often, our "appointed" law enforcement are too eager to ignore fundamental rights in order to make their jobs easier and their perception of "public safety" more tangible.

Bill Gibbons has about as much chance as being the next Gov. of TN as *I* do..........................

No surprise him being anti-gun given his Memphis roots.
