I was looking around, and I noticed the map on our main page is a bit out of date:

It seems we have added quite a few states since that one was made.

Also, as of 1/1/07, we will have our permits recognized in Kansas.

Yes is more up to date and will stay up to date. It is the premier Site on the web for up to date info on CCW's and the laws on CCW in the United States. Thank you for pointing that out. BTW. Kansas is not honoring all states come 1/1/07. Their Attorney General will list the states they will honor. I hope he is not to tight with the number of states Kansas will honor. Keep checking at for additional information on Kansas and any other changes in the other 49 States Laws. [/url]

Why does the map on handgunlaw.us list NYC as being "right restricted"? My impression, having grown up there, is that there is no basically no way on earth an average citizen can get a permit. That isnt restricted, that is denied.

If you're politically connected in NYC you can get a CCW. That's what the 'restricted' means.

No, I understood that. But to me that is the functional equivalent of "right denied."
In Mass the right is also restricted but my impression is it is much easier for an average citizen to get a license. It seems misleading to lump NYC and Mass in the same category.

NYC does not issue permits to carry that are honored state wide. The five couties that make up NYC do. They are Shall Issue which means you have to have a reason to carry for them to issue you a permit. Some counties in NY state issue under teh same laws but issue to anyone who meets the criteria. They are Shall Issue. We list NYC as people ask for it to be listed.
