My letter to Parkridge Medical Center

To whom it may concern:

My wife, Annie Jane Burke, is scheduled today to have an arteriogram performed by Dr. Theodore D. Richards. In light of the double homicide, January 6th, at Erlanger Hutcheson Hospital in Ft. Oglethorpe, I wish to advise every official of Parkridge Medical Center that I am deeply concerned that your facility has chosen to post a sign forbidding law abiding citizens from legally carrying a handgun.

As a law abiding citizen, I have met all requirements under Tennessee code 39-17-1351, and have a handgun carry permit issued by Tennessee’s Department of Safety, but my permit is not valid when any business posts a sign at their entrances, in compliance with Tennessee code 39-17-1359.

I have obeyed the law (TN 39-17-1359), and I have complied with your sign by leaving my handgun in my vehicle. As such, Parkridge Medical Center will be held liable for any and all actions of injury or death, which may occur while my wife and I are on your premises.

I strongly urge Parkridge Medical Center to remove such signs prohibiting weapons, as criminals and psychopathic individuals will not obey your signs. Such feeble attempts by individuals and businesses to reduce violent crime will only let those who commit violent crimes know they will not face any opposition or resistance from law abiding citizens.
