Charged with a Gun Crime they MIGHT have committed?

Well, it seems that a Militia in Michigan has been charged with Conspiracy to commit a violent crime against Police officers.. The charges may well be founded, I don't know. But one seemingly frightening detail in the news report stuck out to me. They have been charged by the FBI with: "possessing a firearm during a crime of violence."

Could maybe one of the attorneys around here tell me how that is possible when the alleged plot was "supposedly" foiled by the FBI? What "crime of violence" was committed? The other accompanying charges don't seem to support this claim by the FBI?

Looks like the Feds are saying that because hey were actively involved with "Conspiracy" to commit a violent crime, they can be charged with illegal gun possession.. This may be true, but I think we as a firearms community have a responsibility to follow this case & make sure this isn't another publicity stunt to get more funding, like WACO was..

Right now it seems legit on the part of the FBI/ATF, but I for one will be watching this one closely..

Dan from what I am reading all around the net, it appears that they were "conspiring" to commit a violent crime just because they (ATF/FBI) found a cache of weapons and had a training camp. It appears that possibly they were turned in by another "Militia" in the area of one of the raids. MSNBC I believe it was stated part of the ones arrested were to be charged for Domestic Terrorism. Of course I watched a Fox News channel and they were talking about the Confiscation of many Assault rifles. Of course Fox is going to play this out as the members were killers and had Uzi's out the waazoo! I too will be watching how this plays out and see what they are actually charged with.

Well, one thing I got from one of the news stations was that one of the alleged offenders had written a detailed plan that was designed to draw other militias into a battle with the Government.. They were supposedly going to start by killing a Police officer, & then some at the funeral to kick of a "Revolution." Supposedly the FBI recovered these documents.. If that is true, then they all belong in a cell right next to Charlie Manson, so they can reminisce about what "could have been."

What deeply disturbs me is that these idiots try to portray themselves as followers of Jesus Christ. Jesus said, "For many shall come in My name..." (Mark 13:6) As a preacher of the Gospel, I assure you these people do not speak for Christians, nor do they understand what Jesus taught about His Second Coming. We must pray for these souls that have been deceived and misguided.
