Just got a call.

I know this is not firearm issue, but, my nephew's wife, who was stationed in Northern Iraq was killed today.

The nephew and his wife, both members of the Tennessee National Guard were deployed together last fall, he is a chopper pilot, and was recalled early from his tour for a new assignment as an instructor, returned stateside last week, but his wife was required to remain on station for the duration of her tour of duty.

Details are sketchy at best, but from what information we have at this time, it appears a roadside bomb was involved.

In speaking with my nephew, he said his wife had actually entered the pilot training program and had graduated. She was serving in that capacity. She and another pilot were killed in a chopper accident. Appears that there was no hostile forces present, and mechanical failure seems the most likely cause. "Hard landing" was the official designation, Sam says that means crash.

So sorry to hear of your family's loss particularly in a time of service to this country and in particular under this administration which really seems to so frequently disrespect the service, commitments and sacrifices that the citizens of this country make who choose to serve.

I am so sorry to hear this. Can you share the names. I know most of the Tennessee pilots. I know of 2 husband/wifes that are pilots. I know 2 of them pretty well. I am in GA right now serving on AD so I am not that intouch with the guys over there.

Mr. Archie I'm truly sorry for your loss. My family and I are praying for you & your family. It is truly saddening that our military has had the losses it's had.
